Ants are very attracted to electricity and heat. The heat from the devices provides a warm nesting site. They are particularly drawn to the electronics in the circuit board in the controller of the generator. Having mulch around the generator can also attract ants. Acts of nature, such as bug or animal infestation, are not covered under Generac’s warranty. A controller replacement for a generator can be as much as $800-$1000. As an additional protection, we can spread ant control granules around the generator. Please let us know if you would like this additional service completed while our team is out completing your generator maintenance.
